Job Description: This is a unique opportunity to work closely with the Executive Director of a successful non-profit in Central Texas. Intern will work directly with the Executive Director and provide assistance with creative marketing through graphic design, processing incoming requests from children in the foster care system, events and social media, and daily clerical duties (entering data, mailings, etc.).
The schedule is flexible, but requires at least two days on site each week. Intern will also be asked to work from home on various projects and respect deadlines.
Job Requirements:
Candidate must have the following qualities/skills:
-knowledge of WordPress
-skilled in Adobe Illustrator CS6
-extremely detail oriented
-ability to multi-task
-reliable and professional
-interested in the non-profit sector/foster children
-skilled in Microsoft Office (primarily Excel, Word)
-must have a vehicle/provide your own transportation
-must clear a background check

The intern will assist with the following:
-social media: update Facebook and Twitter accounts, keeping donors and volunteers informed of Foster Angels activities and events
-newsletter: create and/or edit content using both Adobe Illustrator and web based software for quarterly newsletter targeting donors, prospective donors, and community members
-event planning: assist with coordination and planning for board meetings, events, and fundraisers
-programming: assist with processing requests for assistance for foster children
-clerical: some logging in requests, receipts, and thank you notes from caseworkers and foster children
Foster Angels of Central Texas
This local non-profit organization was founded to address the growing need for assistance to foster children in Central Texas. Our mission is to improve the lives of children in foster care, ensuring that each child has his or her basic needs met, and to provide life-enriching and life-enhancing experiences whenever possible. We provide immediate assistance to children in need in the 30 counties that make up Region 7 of Central Texas. Often these children are removed from their homes with nothing more than the clothes on their backs. Something as simple as a pair of shoes, a backpack, summer camp, or music lessons can make all the difference in the life of a foster child.
The organization has served over 5,000 children in foster care in its first four years of operating. This year alone, we have served over 700 children. Each year, requests for assistance continue to grow dramatically, and it is our hope to be able to succesfully fulfill each and every request. Support from foundations, local businesses, and individual donors is crucial to our success and to continue to dramatically impact the lives of children in need.
